Buying On Ebay Can Save You Money So Shop Here Instead

Create Your Illusion

You do not have to buy expensive gifts, eat in fancy restaurants, or decorate for glory to enjoy the holidays ahead. In fact there is something to be said about LESS IS MORE when it comes to sharing holidays. Sure the children have visions of sugar plums all through the season. These days those so called sugar plums cost a fortune and many of us have tightened the belt when it comes to spending. Good for you if you have and if you are still considering spending the usual, think again.

There are many ways to create lasting memories and bring joy and laughter into your spirit and the hearts of those you love without breaking your personal banking system. It might mean digging a little deeper into your brain cells but, you can do your thinking while you are on the pot, in the shower, or driving your car. The idea is to look at the holidays from a different point of view. DON'T THINK what can I BUY.....Think.... WHAT CAN I DO. Changing that one simple thought process is the beginning of saving a considerable amount of money during the holiday season.

Another thing that you might want to change is your personal attitude about what you expect of yourself during the holidays. If you feel an obligation to purchase gifts for people that you normally would not walk across the street for think again. This is where you could make some thought changes that are everlasting and, in turn could make a huge difference in years to come

Make Your Holidays Better, Brighter, Richer And Less Expensive

Many hubbers have articles published here on HubPages sharing there thoughts about the holiday season ahead. Some of them are chocked full of great advice, suggestions, recipes and so much more. I read through several and would like to bring them to your attention just in case you have not made your way around to see for your self.

  • Shirley Anderson compiled a wonderful hub about Homemade Christmas. She did a great job and it would be worth your while to read what she has to share.
  • Here is a good hub about the traditional Christmas Stocking that should be read as stockings are a nice simple way of expressing Christmas Joy.
  • Patty Inglish wrote a great article about food from another culture other than the USA. That is a good one to think about. Food can be a perfect way to create a memory of a lifetime and most people make a big deal about meals around the holidays. You will want to be sure to include this one in your reading.
  • Jimmy has got it going on with this traditional menu from Scotland that should also help to stimulate those brain waves. Read what he has to share in his holiday hub and maybe it will give you some inspiration too.
  • Hope you will include concern for our environment as you make your way through the holidays. We all should be thinking about the Earth. There are ways you can help during the holidays and you will find some suggestions in this hub. Don't forget to take a look see.
  • This hub has a lot of words about Christmas that will help to stimulate a deeper feeling. A good way to probe your own inner feelings about the holidays. Find out what makes you feel good about Christmas and maybe it will enlighten you as to what you can do for others.

Share Your Christmas Cheer

There you have a place to start. It does not have to be all about the shopping spree. You can pick up that cell phone and call an old friend you have not kept in touch with for way too long. Grab your sweet little uncle and dance a jig. Help the family across the street put up some Christmas lights. Bake a plate of cookies and take them to a nursing home.Think about what you might like and share that action with someone.

The idea is to share the warmth The Holiday Season Lights Up In Your Heart. It would be wonderful if you care to share more thoughts and ideas below.

Seasons Greetings To Each And Every Hubber Here At HubPages from me! poorQpine

I make cards for people for the most part, or jewelry. I also make pictures that I put in frames. Yes some people think I am cheap, but part of me feels it is cheaper to buy a whole bunch of commercialized gifts. I did that a few years back and people did not seem very impressed by it. However, when I started making my own cards people were much more impressed and happy about that. My little sister still has not got the idea yet that you do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on material items for people. She used to buy elaborate Christmas gifts for my sister, my mom, and our niece and nephew, but then she became upset when she received very little in return.

Sure my mom always tried to compensate for it by buying her some nice things, but I think her being the baby of the family resulted in her being a little spoiled. She is not unlike other Americans who expect a slew of gifts on Christmas day. I do not expect lots of gifts, and I actually tell my mom not to get me very much so she can focus on her. I always appreciate smaller and more thoughtful things. Great hub with a great message!

SweetiePie, I hate all the buying and comparing prices and he got something bigger and better, and I know little kids who count their gifts and lay guilt trips on their parents..... No, I will not go there. Christmas has lost it's meaning in our throw away society. I do not need a commercial to tell me when and where and what to do for gifts. I really enjoy giving gifts to people in the middle of any month for no reason at all. Just to be nice. It makes me feel good.

I like it when people take the time to write me a nice card, thoughtful thing to do. Glad you mentioned that. Thanks for stopping to see my hubpage. I will read yours too.

My co-workers could learn a thing or two from your hub. They are all about one up each other and the Christmas buying frenzy. We are in for a commercialized and nauseating month :).

ThisGirl,

Let them go. It can be quite amusing to act as a fly on the wall and watch the zoo animals jump through the hoops. To each his own, I just feel that we are disconnecting from the true meaning of Christmas with all the zeal for spending too much too many! C.S.

Very good point! I shall do that :). The true meaning is much more important to me too.

Great hub! Well my gift list just got shorter after thinking of who I wouldn't walk across the street for. Actually I keep it simple and if you aren't known for giving gifts no one expects them from you. I think the commercialism ruins the holidays. Personally I like thanksgiving (pigging out and cooking- fun!). The season just goes downhill from there, especially by it's marked death- Black Friday (shopping day after Thanksgiving). What a bunch of nuts. I like xmas stockings and will keep that tradition. I have a one year old so I can teach her early- that xmas isn't about gifts.

izetti,

I am so happy to hear that a HUMAN is thinking like you are. Especially the part about teaching your child while they are young. Good for you. I also like the Thanksgiving Day celebration. I find the best morsels tossed to the birds during that week. Dr. says I should watch my round belly but hey!. We porcupines only live an average of 6 years so what the heck, life is short, just like my legs. Season's Greetings. Thanks for visiting. and Thanks for leaving a comment too. me, poorQpine

We are so on the same page about this throw away society America has become! And how the spirit of Christmas has deteriorated into mall presents. Well done hub in my book!

Denny Lyon,

It is great to know that we are many. Traditions do not have to be given up. It is possible to adjust things enough to make a BIG dent in the waste and still enjoy life. Thought before action is a good motto to go by in making adjustments. Thank you for sharing and visiting here.
